Our Eyelid Tightening treatment provides a non-surgical option for hooded eyelids and loose skin around the eye area. Your skin type and your genetics play a significant role in how this area changes as you age, with some people noticing significant skin laxity from their mid-thirties onwards. Eyelid tightening can be performed on the upper or lower eyelids or both.
This treatment uses a plasma skin tightening device, combined with topical home products. We may also combine this treatment with laser skin tightening around the area to provide further support. Best results are achieved approximately 12 weeks after you have completed your treatment course, however evidence of skin tightening is often seen after the second treatment.
There is downtime associated with this treatment; you will experience swelling for up to 48 hours and skin discolouration and flaking for up to 14 days. Your practitioner will provide you with the skin products and aftercare information that you need to support you through this process. You may wish to avoid social activities for the first 48 hours after treatment – beyond this time the skin changes can be covered with camouflage make up (which we provide for you) and so further time off work is not usually required.
Our Expertise
The eye area is notoriously difficult to treat non-surgically and constructing the right treatment plan is key to achieving results. During your consultation, we will carefully assess your eye shape, skin type, skin elasticity and the degree of eyelid hooding to work out whether this is an appropriate treatment for you. This treatment is ideal for those who have:
- Caucasian skin
- Mild to moderate skin laxity
- No/minimal eyebrow heaviness
If we don’t think that you will get good results from this treatment then we will offer alternative options. Lifting the eyebrow with injectable treatments can help upper eyelid hooding and laser skin tightening around the eye area can provide support to the skin and reduce fine lines. For some people, however, the only option is to consider a surgical eyelid lift (blepharoplasty) and if this is the case we will offer to refer you on to our cosmetic surgeon partner.
